On April 20, 2023 I attended the White House Invest in Nature Summit on Earth Day. I was representing the Foundation for Regeneration as co-Director.

I enjoyed the symbolism of the moment in hand by bringing with me three charms:

1) the rock gifted to me by Marshall Ulrich was retrieved after he summited the top of Mt. Everest (highest point on earth)

2) a cluster of salt from the Dead Sea in Israel (lowest point on earth).

3) a card inscribed on it is a hebrew prayer with an image of the Rebbe in Hebrew from my wife Remi.

To add to that, I brought a large book of Bryan Haynes Art (https://www.artbybryanhaynes.com/)<a style="color: #1155cc;" href="" data-type=""...Read More

Three Take Aways: Our Clubhouse Conversation w/ Elon Musk

You may have heard of the new app I'm spending too much time on called Clubhouse. It's basically like a 24/7 conference with endless rooms you can drop in and out of and get on stage to speak at any time. By the way, we've created the Regeneration Club and Discord message board. If you're not on it yet, ask me and maybe I have an invite to share or can get you in through the back door. Ask me how !

You may have heard Elon Musk joined Clubhouse last night 1/31 at 10pm PST. I stayed up to listen in. I estimate maybe 30k people were on the app and heard it was also streaming on YouTube. We were in rooms of 5k maxing out overloading their system. I could see Satya Kamdar, Ali Katz, Bryan Talebi, Tony Lillios, Rebecca Schultz, Aaron Berger there. Who else was there?

Suddenly it was on. We were in the room with Elon Musk. Sriram Krishnan @sriramk and Aarthi Ramamurthy @aarthir of the Good Time Club snagged this special interview. It felt like we were I person. Just hanging out thinking about Mars and joking around about #memedealers.

This is the best summary I've seen via @shaanVP: https://twitter.com/shaanvp/status/1356121622264963080?s=21&fbclid=IwAR2ZRebxX5BDrfyYq6gCtPy35ANsbLUyOjQgBYO-ffRkvO7t2w68rBlvtpU

But here are the three things that I was most impressed about.

1) The grittiness... this guy is tough ! He literally sleeps on his factory floor.

@sriramk. Do you still sleep on the floor at the factory?

@elonmusk. Only if there's like a crisis situation. And when we're asking other people to work really hard. They come to work at 4am and walk past me sleeping on the floor. I want them to think if he's willing to take this much pain. I can too. I slept on the floor so people can see me. Seeing is believing. It was rough. But I was asking people to...Read More

 The Definition of Regeneration

Everybody asks... what is the definition of regeneration? That is not such an easy question to answer:

Regeneration represents a movement of people and a body of scholarly work drawing on how living systems work. In Latin, Regeneration means “to create again.” It can be applied to different scales (individual to a city), industries (agriculture, real estate, circular economy), and most importantly about the economy and society health as a whole. It even includes legal, finance, and philosophical discussions on how we hold power, wealth, and control in the management of ourselves and of planetary resources. Many say that regeneration is a way of being and we can already trace it’s principles and frameworks back to indigenous, religious, and scientific wisdom.

Regeneration is becoming the new term or meme gaining popularity as a rally cry for something more and different than sustainability. The best example I can give on the difference was a story I heard about creating the most sustainable hotel in Mexico (LEED certified and all the bells and whistles). But as the regenerative practitioners came on to the project, they realized that the building plans were overlaid on top of a precious natural resource important to that ecological system - a natural estuary. Also, the narrative emerged about the historical culture and economic boom and bust in that same area. So instead of a copy and paste model hotel, they were able to integrate the past to create the future; building off of the place’s own unique features culturally, economically, ecologically to create something that could only have been done exactly where they were.

Regeneration simply defined...

“The universal patterns and principles the cosmos uses to build stable, healthy, and sustainable systems throughout the real world can and must be used as a model for economic-system design. Regenerative Economics is the application of nature's laws and...Read More

State of Climate SenseMaking: January 2021 Top 5 Reading List

There has never been more momentum for the climate than this moment. It seems everyday a new billionaire wakes up and launches his/her own “Earth Fund” fund a la Jeff Bezos (February 2020). The world is paying attention to these wicked problems whether it's the natural disasters hitting their income statements or the massive opportunities to make some coin. With the new Biden-Harris administration and Democratic majority congress, America is already starting to feel the sails catching a great and much needed wind for this cause.

But the journey is just beginning. We are up against a massive challenge. Think Moonshot JFK. Lewis and Clark going west. Rocky in 15th round with Apollo Creed. We are in uncharted territory. We have to get prepared to better see the map and get to work. Be ready for the greatest adventure (and most challenging) of our lifetimes.

Here's some of the research reports I'm reading as I try to get smart and tactical about sense making on the State of Climate in January 2021.

1) Drawdown Georgia.

Project Drawdown is the most comprehensive list of solutions ever proposed to reverse climate change. “Drawdown is the future point in time when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline. This is the point when we begin the process of stopping further climate change and averting potentially catastrophic warming. It is a critical turning point for life on Earth.” While the book and organization has been incredibly successful in terms of media exposure, true success requires local traction. Drawdown evaluates a list of solutions for the entire world that may not be contextually relevant to local context.

Drawdown GA was the first state to analyze every solution and downselect those solutions relevant to Georgia’s specific context based on a...Read More

"the EarthRise" Poem

Preface:

1) Daniel Pinchbeck's book "How Soon is Now?" frames the collective challenges we face as humanity's initiation. I like the idea of naming that initiation "the EarthRise."

2) On Thomas Huebl retreats (whose teachings this poem is directly tied to) @ IONS one typically sees the moonrise and sunrise /sunset in the sky mirrors Edgar Mitchel's oneness moment looking at the earth from outer space. It was read at their Board Meeting.

We are the Walking Planet

Calling Forth the EarthRise

To Cross the Threshold of Humanity's Initiation.

Into the Present Sun

Shining Light on the Shadow Choices

of Individual & Collective Unconscious

Made Again & Again in Each Moment

Diluting our Own Evolutionary Potential.

Here We Sit in the Stillness

Until the Essential Movement Emerges

To ReWrite the Book of Life

Across Time & Space

From Beginning to End...

Together.
